Proceed With Caution

Everyone's happy that the economy has come back around and that the capital markets are opening up.

In 2003 there were a total of 68 IPOs.  So far this year we have seen 62 - on track to double the offerings from last year.  Post-IPO performance has improved as well, with average gain from the offering price at 12%.

There are 186 companies in the "IPO Pipeline" - compare that to only 19 at this time last year!

Does this mean that you should blindly rush into the capital markets to make hay while the sun shines?  Not really.  While opportunities are greater than at any time in the last few years, there are also many more people out there willing to promise the world...for a price.

We recommend that before approaching the capital markets you develop a sound strategy that includes fallback options and identifies your maximum risk exposure.  Naturally, we also suggest that you call us if you have any questions.
