Radio's Importance During Time of Crisis

As of this writing, Hurricane Isabel is approaching the East Coast and the potential for catastrophe along the Mid Atlantic and Northeast regions of our country looms. Of course, whenever emergencies occur, it remains vitally important for law enforcement, emergency personnel, and government agencies to remain in instant contact with the public. News/Talk Format’s Ratings Increase Dramatically

There was a surge in listening patterns toward the news and talk formats by adults aged 25-54 as the demographic flocked toward news and information radio stations during the first six months of 2003, according to a new report released by the radio research and advertising rep firm Interep.

The report reviewed the performance of news and talk stations in the nation’s top 10 markets during the first six months of 2003, with the goal of determining if there were any significant changes in radio listening patterns during the period of major war operations in Iraq.
